Shipping Policy

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free on orders of $100 or more. All other orders will be charged an $9 flat fee.

Do you ship to P.O. Boxes?

No. Unfortunately many of our carriers cannot ship to a PO Box and, therefore, we cannot offer flat rate or free shipping to a PO Box address. Contact us if this is a problem and we will work with you for the best solution. 

How long will it take to ship my order?

Most orders will ship within five business days. Exceptions will be listed on the product page. Once your order is shipped, delivery times usually range from seven to nine business days.

Do you ship internationally?

No. At the moment, we only ship within the continental United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii).

Do you ship packages using environmentally-sustainable practices?

Yes! The Maximalist follows the three Rs rule: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.


REDUCE: The Maximalist strives to use the smallest package sizes possible which minimizes the packaging materials we ship to you and reduces the amount of space in the delivery vehicle, thus improving the carbon footprint.


REUSE: Although it looks good if we only ship products in our sustainable and branded packaging, the reality is that we receive products from manufacturers around the world who have their own packaging policies that are not always aligned with ours. For that reason, we strive to ship orders in original manufacturer's packaging when possible.


RECYCLE: If you receive bubble wrap or any other plastic packaging, please recycle or reuse the packaging.  When we cannot reuse the original manufacturer's packaging, we use our own shipping supplies that are plastic free and 100% biodegradable or recyclable. 


Return & Exchange Policy

If your order is wrong or damaged, please contact us  within 48 hours of receipt.

 We want you to be happy with your purchase and realize that in today's market, we must offer free returns to compete with other online stores. Please return or exchange items within 14 days of receipt if you are not happy with your purchase**.  Please contact us with your purchase information so that we can speed up the process of your return request.  Please note that items in gift packages are only returnable if damaged during shipping.


We ask you to keep in mind two factors when returning items:

1. The Maximalist is not a big box store and we cannot afford to ship products back and forth for you to "try on.'

2. Returns increase the carbon footprint so please make sure that you carefully read through the product descriptions including size, color, and care specifications to make sure that you are making a purchase that meets your needs.

**Please note that original artwork ships directly from the artist and can only be returned if damaged. It is critical that you read the artwork description thoroughly before placing an order for an original piece of art. Please contact us immediately if there is any damage when you receive artwork.



You should love the furniture you live with so please carefully read this return policy and the product description before ordering any furniture.  

If your furniture arrives and you are not happy with it, furniture must be returned within 7 days  in new condition and will incur a 30% restocking fee. The customer is responsible for the cost of shipping, handling, and insurance for the return.

If your furniture arrives damaged, please contact us immediately with photos of the damage, as well as any damage to the package. We will work with you to replace the item (based on availability) or refund your purchase.
